World’s Best Recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes


 



 This is a basic recipe for classic fried green tomatoes, made simply with a lightly seasoned .

This fried tomatoes are great served as a snack or side dish with one of the iconic southern dishes .

INGREDIENTS :

➪ 4 green tomatoes .

➪ 1 cup cornmeal .

➪ 1/2 cup white flour .

➪ 1/2 cup whole milk .

➪ 2 large eggs .

➪ Vegetable oil for frying .

➪ 1 tsp Freshly ground black pepper .

➪ 1 tsp salt .


 INSTRUCTIONS :

➪ Slice the tomatoes into 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch slices.

➪ Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Meanwhile whisk milk and two large eggs in a small mixing bowl . Add 1.2 cups of flour .

➪ In another bowl , mix cornmeal , salt , pepper and you can add 2 tbsp of bread crumbs .

➪ Now , dip sliced tomatoes in egg-milk mixture , then in cornmeal to  completely coat .

➪ Place tomatoes into frying pan , fry them  until are golden brown in two sides .  Drain them on paper towels.
